John 10:22-30
Introduction:
A. Last week, we saw the blessedness of who we are in Christ Jesus. Saved, forgiven, washed, sanctified, justified, Sonship, and completion. Praise the Lord that salvation is both an act of God and a gift from God! We do not have to maintain our salvation because we are in Christ Jesus and in Him is no sin! Free from the penalty of sin though still having to live in the presence of sin but one day will be delivered from the presence of sin!
B. That introduction is a mouthful because books have been written upon each individual part of that statement. I do not debate the Scripture, I defend it.
C. Tonight, along with who we are in Christ Jesus, we need to understand what we have in Christ Jesus. Most lack of assurance of salvation is bred in the cesspool of unbelief. God has give to us a precious Bible that explains both our position in Christ and our blessings in Christ.
D. In Christ Jesus, we have:
1. Assurance. 2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
In Life. Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In Love. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
2. Deliverance.
Eternal Deliverance. 2 Corinthians 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
Temporal Deliverance. 2 Timothy 4:17-18 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. (18) And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
3. Peace.
Peace with God. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Peace of God. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
4. Blessings. 2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Physical Blessings. Philippians 4:19-20 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (20) Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Spiritual Blessings. Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
MY place!
5. Security. John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
The Period of eternal life is found in “eternal life.” I am not sure why people have such a problem with those words but, as one man once said, “It may just be a family secret!”
The Promise of eternal life is found in “they SHALL NEVER perish.” That is a promise, not a stipulation. You either are eternally saved or you are not saved at all.
The Power of salvation is found in “neither shall any man pluck them our of my hand.” His hand spanned the universe, and we stand in the middle of His hand. You think that you can get out of that hand, start walking.
6. The Holy Spirit. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Our Possession by the Spirit. Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Our Position in The Spirit. Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7. The Word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The Power of the Word of God. “Being born again.” So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Perfection of the Word of God. “not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible” This is what the Bible says about the Word of God and it is what I believe about the Word of God.
Permanence of the Word of God. “which liveth and abideth for ever.” We have God’s Word in our hand tonight!
8. Representation.
A High Priest. Hebrews 8:1-2 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; (2) A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
An Advocate. Christ Jesus Pleads our Cause. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
An Intercessor. Christ Jesus Presents our Case. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
