Stand Fast in the Lord

 Temple Baptist Church - 2-20-2022

Philippians 3:17-4:1

Introduction:

A.  Change and decay all around I see as we live in the light of the eminent return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. What a blessed hope! We will be raptured out of this present, evil world into an eternity too wonderful to describe.

B.  Chapter 4:1 begins with the word "Therefore," so we will take a look at what its therefore.  It ties our verse for this morning with the preceding chapter.

C.  We need to stand fast in these last days because so many of God’s people are already casualties in the spiritual warfare of these last, perilous days.

D.  Our Nation is under attack as the godless continue to shift our nation from its biblical foundation to the socialistic, humanistic, Globalistic left!

E.  Our Churches are under attack as the liberalism of the "new paths" have taken the place of the conservative way of the "old paths."

F.  God's people are under attack as morals have decayed, faithfulness has waned, and biblical authority has become a matter of choice.

Jeremiah 5:30-31  A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;  (31)  The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

G. In order to stand in these last days, it will take the help of the Lord:

1. It will take His Power - Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (His power is available.)

2. It will take His Grace - 2 Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. (His grace is sufficient.)

HOW TO STAND

1. Stand Fast Where You Are - Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2. Stand in Unity - Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

3. Stand in Rejoicing - Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

4. Stand in Pray - 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

5. Stand in Peace - John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

.

6. Stand in Purity - 1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

7. Stand in Service - Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

8. Stand in Contentment -
Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

The Millennium

Temple Baptist Church - 2-13-2022

Revelation 20:1-10

A.   The Millennium, A Literal 1000 Year Reign on Earth.  I previously mentioned that there are 3 different general views concerning the Millennium.  Amillennialism, Postmillennialism, and Premillennialism.  We, who are Bible believers, are Pre-Tribulation and Premillennial.  The best way to dispel false doctrine is simply to preach sound doctrine.

Amillennialism is a denial of a future 1000-year reign of Christ on earth.  This 1000 year period is mentioned in the Book of Revelation 6 times.

Postmillennialism teaches that we are in that age and when things get good enough, Christ will come back to ascend His throne at the end of the age.

Premillennialism teaches that that Golden Age is a future event.

B.  The Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is perfectly laid out with everything in chronological order.  With this in mind, we will take a short look at the Book of Revelation from the beginning until the time of the Kingdom Age or Millennium.

C.  In chapter one, we find the layout of the book.  Notice with me the three-fold breakdown found in verse 19.

Revelation 1:19  Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

Chapter 1.  "The things which thou hast seen" speaks of the past.

Chapters 2-3.  "The things which are" speaks of the present church age from the day of the Apostles till the present day which we live.

Chapter 4-22.  "The things which shall be hereafter."  The prophetic portion of the book which shows that the Tribulation Period and Millennium are future events.

Therefore, we live in Pre-Tribulation and Premillennial days.

D.  The Millennium or Kingdom Age begins at the end of the Tribulation Period.  We saw:

The Visible Return of Jesus Christ - Revelation 1:7 - Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Revelation 19:11 - And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

The Battle of Armageddon - Revelation 19:19 - And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Beast And False Prophet Cast Into The Lake of Fire - Revelation 19:20 - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Satan Bound For 1000 Years - Revelation 20:2 - And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

The Purposes of The Millennium

a.  Concerning Covenants – Fulfillment of God's Promises to Israel.

1.  The Abrahamic Covenant—An unconditional covenant.  God promised Abraham that He would make of him a great nation and all nations would be blessed through the nation of Israel.  Later, God changed Abram's name to Abraham and sealed the covenant through the rite of circumcism.  Abraham was the first Hebrew.

Genesis 12:1-3 - Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

2.  The Davidic Covenant—An unconditional covenant.  This covenant was made between God and David through which God promises David and Israel that the Messiah (Jesus Christ) would come from the lineage of David and the tribe of Judah and would establish a kingdom that would endure forever. God promised David that his throne would be an everlasting throne upon which Jesus Christ would ultimately sit and reign.

2 Samuel 7:12-13 - And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.  He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

3.  The Land or Palestinian Covenant—an unconditional covenant.  God promised Abraham that everywhere he set his foot in Canaan would be his and belong to the nation of Israel.  It was also the promise of the future restoration of Israel in the end-time.

Genesis 15:18  In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Genesis 17:7-8 - And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

4.  The New Covenant—both conditional and unconditional covenant.  The condition part of this covenant is based upon the personal acceptance of the Gospel which is by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ.  It is unconditional in its promise that salvation would be an eternal work of God as He would forgive sin and establish an eternal relationship with the believer.  It is established upon the blood of Christ in salvation instead of the blood of bulls and goats of Atonement as Jesus Christ would fulfill His promise to Abraham that "God will provide himself a lamb:" the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 31:31-33 - Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them,  saith the LORD:  But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of  Israel; After those days saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their  hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

b.  Concerning Christ – To restore Christ to His position.

1.  Receive His Kingdom - Hebrews 10:12-13 - But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

2.  Rule In His Rightful Place - Luke 1:32-33 - He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

c.  Concerning Creation -To restore the earth to its purity.  On this point, I need to clarify that during the Millennium, this earth will have many of the same qualities as it did before the fall of man through Adam's sin but all aspects of the corruption of sin will not be totally removed until we see a new heaven and a new earth in Revelation, chapter 21.

Romans 8:22 - For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

2 Peter 3:10-12  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  (11)  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,  (12)  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Revelation 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Drawing From the Wells of Salvation

 Temple Baptist Church - 2-13-2022

Isaiah 12; John 4:9-15

Introduction:

A.  By interpretation, these verses in Isaiah, chapter 12, speak of the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to set up His kingdom after the Tribulation Period.  He is speaking to Israel, His covenant people.  Tonight, we will begin our study of the Millennium in Revelation, chapter 20.

B.  This morning, I want to make a biblical application that is relevant to the child of God in our day.  We live in days that are called perilous in 2 Timothy, chapter 3.  We who are saved know what spiritual time it is and are looking forward to heaven.

C.  You cannot draw from something that you do not have.  The classic example is the woman whom Christ waited for at Jacob's well in Sychar.

John 4:11-15  The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?  (12)  Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?  (13)  Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:  (14)  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  (You cannot drink from a well that you do not have!)

D.  BUT, while we await our homecoming, we must endure the hardship of perilous times.  Notice with me the wording found in verse 3: "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation."  WITH JOY!

1.  The Joy of Rejoicing – Verse 4.  Philippians 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

2.  The Joy of Fellowship – Verse 5.  1 John 1:3  That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

3.  The Joy of Hope – Verse 6. Titus 2:12-13  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  (13)  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

E.  Verse 3.  These are wells, not cisterns.  This water is pure, fresh, abundant, and free.

F.  Here are 7 things you can draw from your wells.

1.  Forgiveness in Failure – Isaiah 12:1  And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

2.  Peace in Trouble – Isaiah 26:3  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

3.  Strength in Weakness – 2 Corinthians 12:9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

4.  Grace in Temptation – 1 Corinthians 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

5.  Hope in Discouragement – 1 Samuel 30:6  And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

6.  Refreshing in Weariness – Isaiah 40:29-31  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.  (30)  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  (31)  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

7.  Joy in Weeping – Psalm 30:5  For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The Dangers of Prosperity

 Temple Baptist Church - 2-9-2022

James 5:1-6

Introduction:

A.  Though this message is to the "rich" man—and we do not have any here at Temple, which is not a bad thing because the rich normally cause internal problems within the local church—there are worthwhile applications that can be made to all of us.

B.  We live in the days of Laodicea where the goal in life is to most is to "have need of nothing."  People in our day must have more and more both saved and unsaved.

1.  The world seeks this goal through 3 different approaches:

a) Through deceitfulness as scammers are everywhere.  We constantly get calls from impersonators who fraudulently claim to be bill collectors of sorts and are requesting personal information.  Though most people just hang up, these thieves prey on the elderly.

b) Through hard work and storing up—the Bible is not necessarily opposed to this approach as long as it is done rightly.  The Bible teaches that the prudent man follows the ant instead of the "grasshopper."

Proverbs 6:6-8  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:  (7)  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,  (8)  Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

c) Through socialism which causes laziness and expectancy—welfare, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.  The Bible is clear at this point concerning those who are able to work but choose not.  Let them starve!

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12  For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.  (11)  For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.  (12)  Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

2.  It has also affected God's people in many ways of which we will discuss 2 ways:

a) Things becomes their priority in life and outweigh spiritual things.

Matthew 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

b)  Money becomes their area of trust instead of God.

1 Timothy 6:17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

3.  It has affected preachers also:

a) Their eyes are upon the finances of the church instead of trusting God to provide.

b) Their eyes are upon salaries, fancy homes, expensive cars, and security.  It is hard for small churches to get pastors because they seek those churches that can immediately provide the above things.

1 Peter 5:2  Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

c)  Their pulpits have been compromised because of the fear of losing tithers.

C.  Before we get to application, let us make a biblical interpretation.

1.  How the rich attained their riches.

a)  Through fraud.  Verse 4a.

b)  Through withholding of wages.  Verse 4b.  Labourer worthy of hire

c)  Through controlling the law.  Verse 6.  Lobbying.

2.  How the rich control their riches.

a)  They hoard their riches.  Verse 3.  It is not sinful to put money away for our older years, but it is sinful to do so at the cost of not taking care of family.

b)  They defraud their employees.  Verse 4.

c)  They cheat in paying their taxes.  Render unto Caesar.

3.  How the rich are destroyed by their riches.

a)   There riches disappear.  Verses 2-3.  Easy come, easy go.

b)  Their riches destroy their character.  Verse 3.

c)  Their opportunities are lost.  Verse 3.  To use what God has given them for the good of others.  To use part for brethren in need, missions, and the salvation of the lost.

Biblical Inspiration and Biblical Preservation – Part 3 - Which Bible?

Temple Baptist Church - 2-6-2022

2 Timothy 3:10-17; Jude 3

Introduction:

A.  As I continue to preach on the subject of God's Word, I care not what the world or other religious people think about me.  I care only about what God thinks of me.

b.  There is so much confusion in our day about what and where God's Word lies.  The confusion is caused by the "wisdom of men" which is contrary to both the wisdom and the Word of God.  Let me illustrate by giving you the doctrinal statement of one of the "fundamental" universities of our day.

We hold to the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible in the original manuscripts and that God has supernaturally preserved His inspired words (If they had stopped here, I could agree with their stand on the Bible, but the now choose to totally confuse what "God has supernaturally preserved His inspired words" means by the following statement) in the totality of extant manuscript evidence.  (The "totality" of extant manuscript evidence includes both lines of extant manuscripts: Textus Receptus and Wescott-Hort.  These two lines of manuscripts are NOT the same!  This is worded so as to deliberately disguise what they believe and teach.)

(Here is the rest of their statement of faith on the doctrine of the Scriptures) The position of the University on biblical translations has not changed since the founding of the school.  Although we do not hold to a King James Only position, and from the founding to the present administration, we have never taken the position that there can be only one good translation in the English language, we continue to use the King James Version (KJV) as the campus standard in the undergraduate classroom and chapel pulpit.

If God supernaturally preserved His inspired words, and He did, then He would not have left it up to man to figure out what and where those words were!  Now the authority does not rest in what God said, it rests on those who tell us what is right and what is wrong with our Bible.  These new bibles disagree with each other on these "supernaturally preserved" inspired words of God.  Wording changed, additions, subtractions, etc. characterize the modern bibles.  The wrong text or line of manuscripts along with copyright causes thousands of changes within each bible.

I have never found another preacher that carried a modern Westcott-Hort based "bible" that I would have been willing to follow!

1.  The last 141 years has eroded the confidence of God's people in God's Word.  Since the introduction of the Wescott-Hort Text in 1853 and the New Testament translation finished in 1881.

2.  Since this time, there have been numerous "bibles" produced off the Wescott-Hort with each new version contradicting all others.  Whereas from 1611 until 1881 (the Revised Version of the New Testament), there was no confusion concerning the Bible.  You either believed it or you did not.

3.  THINGS have not changed: you still believe the Bible or you do not.  If you can correct it, you did not believe it to begin with.  It is as simple as that!

4.  I have chosen to believe it!  I am neither uneducated not am I an ignorant man.  I chose over the past 45 years to read and study what the King James Bible says.  Because of this, I have been scoffed at, maligned, and castigated.

B.  I have been asked many times, “How do you know which bible is the right one?”  It is a legitimate question and needs a logical answer.  How do we know for sure that we stand right in light of the many different bible versions on the shelf?  I do not know just how many English versions of the bible that there are but it is in excess of 50.

C.  Fundamental bible believers accept only one and that is the authorized King James Bible.  We that stand for the old King James Bible have been slandered and belittled for simply believing what God said.  We are called:

1.  A King James Cult by ignorant people who do not even know the definition of a cult.

2.  Ruckmanites – If you believe in one Bible that is perfect, the liberal links you to Peter S. Ruckman.  If he was a bible believer, he would not be thrice married and still in a pulpit!  He also teaches double inspiration while we teach single inspiration and perfect preservation which keeps the inspiration intact!

3.  Divisive – we are not divisive; we are separatists.

4.  Narrow minded – we are neither narrow minded nor are we broad minded.  We are bible mindful!

5.  Ignorant and unlearned men – I neither count myself either ignorant or unlearned.  Though I do not have all of the answers, I do believe that I have a “good handle” on the bible.  I certainly am not a novice.

6.  Cultic – Bible believers are not a cult; they are God's people who believe in the Word of God.

7.  Bible believers have been called many things, but I thank God we have never been called liberal!

WHICH BIBLE?  WHY DO WE BELIEVE THAT THE KING JAMES BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD AND NOT OTHER TRANSLATIONS?

1.  Because Of God’s Promise Of Both Divine Inspiration And Perfect Preservation.  If the Word of God is not the King James Bible, then where is it?

a.  The Bible declares that the Word of God was given only once, and then preserved it through divine providence!  The Lord brought up the subject of divine Bible preservation, not man.  Bible preservation is therefore a Bible doctrine that needs to be taught and preached!

1 Samuel 3:19  And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

Psalms 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

2 Peter 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

b.  Bible preservation, according to Scripture is verbal pertaining to the words of God and not the doctrines only.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.  (No place in the Word of God is room left for error or mistranslation!  This is a man-made doctrine and is contrary to clear biblical teaching.)

c.  If verbal preservation is so, and the Bible says it is, then we must have the very Word of God in our hands if we have the right bible.  Now, the question will arise: “Which Bible is the right one?”  Many different people use many different versions and divine inspiration and preservation demand that there only be one Bible for the English-speaking people.  Things that are different are still not the same!

2.  Because The King James Bible Has No Copyright!  The text of the KJV may be reproduced by anyone for there is no copyright forbidding its duplication. This is not true with the modern versions.

COPYRIGHT, n. The sole right which an author has in his own original literary compositions; the exclusive right of an author to print, publish and vend his own literary works, for his own benefit; the like right in the hands of an assignee.

Psalms 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.  (You can print the bible from your own computer and give it to anyone you want.)

3.  Because The King James Bible Was Translated During The Philadelphian Church Age.  (Revelation 3:7-13)

a.  The modern versions begin to appear rather late on the scene as the lukewarm Laodicean period gets underway (Revelation 3:14-22), but the KJV was produced way back in 1611, just in time for the many great revivals (1700-1900).  (The greatest missions’ outreach that the world has ever known was “fueled” by the King James Bible!)

b.  The Philadelphia church was the only one that did not receive a rebuke from the Lord Jesus Christ, and it was the only church that "kept" God's word.

Revelation 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

4.  Because Of The Text From Which It Comes!  There are two major lines of manuscripts.

a.  The Textus Receptus or Received Text from which we get our King James Bible.  (This was the Majority Text with over 99.9% (999/1000 or 4995/5000 which is the number of extant manuscripts) in agreement with it.)

b.  The Wescott-Hort Text or Critical Text from which other versions come.  (This was the Minority Text with less than 0.1% of all extant manuscripts agreeing with it and they disagree with each other.)

c.  There are over 5,000 differences between these two lines of text!

d.  The time of the translation of the King James is further proof that it is the right Bible from the right line of texts!  (During the critical years of the Reformation, Revival, and one of the greatest eras .of mission’s outreaches!)

e.  If the Westcott-Hort Text is the right one, then why was it either not available (and it was) or not used in the greatest translation work in the world?  It was rejected by the translators as corrupt!

f.  Why would God allow the Reformation Period, Revivals and mission’s outreaches of England, Scotland, Wales, etc. be left with an inferior Bible off of an inferior text?  (God’s Word would have not been preserved for a period of app. 270 years before the Wescott-Hort Text was translated!)

5.  Because Of The Confusion and division That Other Versions Have Caused!

a.  Different versions cause confusion in reading.  1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.  (Here at Temple, we begin our services by reading chapters of Scripture in unison.  Can you imagine the confusion with many different versions being read?)

b.  Different versions cause confusion in memorization.  Psalms 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.  (Which Word and does it make a difference?  I believe that it does make a difference!  We have our children memorize Scripture in VBS.  We had a family once at Temple who intentionally told their children to memorize the NIV because of their rebellion.  I rewarded the children though they memorized the wrong version because it was the parent’s fault.  How ungodly and rebellious!)

c.  Different versions cause the preacher to not be able to expound or preach upon individual words within a text because other member’s versions may or may not have them.  2 Timothy 2:9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.  (Different versions limit the effectiveness of expository preaching!)

d.  Different version cause division and strife.  1 Corinthians 1:10  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  (There was no division or strife concerning God’s Word among Christian before the new versions.  It was the new versions that caused the problem, not the Bible believers who stood for the King James Bible.)

e.  God is neither the Author of confusion nor strife!  1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

6.  Because Of The Authority Problem Other Bibles Cause.  If there are many Bibles, then you can pick and choose to suit your own particular beliefs.

          a.  Four things can be your authority spiritually:

The Church – this is Catholicism

Personal Experience – this is Pentecostalism

Human Reason – this is Intellectualism

The Bible – this is Fundamentalism

b.  If the Bible is our Final Authority and I believe that it is, then we must have one that is right!  (The other versions disagree with the King James and, therefore, correct the Authority!)

c.  If the Bible is not our Final Authority, then man can do that which is right in his own eyes and man becomes the authority!

Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

7.  Because The Introduction Of The New Versions Have Brought About A serious Deterioration In Spirituality.

a.  There has never been a major revival using another version other than the King James.  This lack of Spiritual Revivals has brought about a Sinful Revolution within “Christendom!”  Churches are now permeated with the sins that God’s Word condemns and the sinful are comfortable!

b.  When other versions are introduced and used, all standards of holiness begin a serious decline!  Worldly music, worldly dress, and worldly people are now catered to.

8.  Because The King James Bible Produces Good Fruit.

Matthew 7:17-20 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  (No modern translation can compare to the KJV when it comes to producing good fruit. For nearly four hundred years, God has used the preaching and teaching of the KJV to bring hundreds of millions to Christ. Laodicean Christians might favor the new versions, but the Holy Spirit doesn't.)

9. Because The King James Bible Exalts The Lord Jesus Christ.

a.  John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

b.  There is no book on this planet which exalts Christ higher than the King James Bible. In numerous places the new perversions attack the Deity of Christ, the Blood Atonement, the Resurrection, salvation by grace through faith, and the Second Coming. The true scriptures will TESTIFY of Jesus Christ, not ATTACK Him!  (Some of the newer versions change the “thee” and “thou” along with genderless nouns and pronouns to please the feminists!  God forbid that the bible name sin and condemn sinners!  The King James Bible is both correct and handles the sin problem correctly.)

10.  Finally And Most Important.  Because The King James Bible Is the Bible Of Our Fathers.

2 Timothy 3:14  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

a.  As Isaac re-dug the wells of Abraham, his father, after the Philistines had filled them—I am digging where my fathers dug!

Genesis 26:18  And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

b.  The King James Bible is the Bible of my father, my mother, my grand and great grandparents, my pastors and spiritual fore-fathers.  I did not learn, I did not be saved, I did not be called to preach, my life did not change under another modern version.
