Worthy Is The Lamb

Temple Baptist Church - 9-20-2020

Revelation 5:9-14

Introduction:

A.  We have spent a while in chapters 4-5 so it is about time to move on.

1.  Hallelujah, what a Place!  Some call it dreaming, we call it Home!

2.  Hallelujah, what a Person!  The Lion, the Lamb, our wonderful Lord!

B.  Tonight, I want to look at the phrase: “Worthy is the Lamb” in verse 12.

C.  Romans 11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

1.  The Lamb is worthy because of who He was.  “For of him”

a.  The Eternal Jehovah God.  Psalms 90:1-2  A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.  (2)  Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

b.  The Creator of all Things.  John 1:1-3  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  The same was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

c.  The Sustainer of all things.  Romans 11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

2.  The Lamb is worthy because of what He did.

a.  The Word became Flesh.  John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

b.  The Creator became our sacrifice.  1 John 2:2  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

c.  The Dead became alive again.  John 11:25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

d.  The Risen Ascended.  John 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

3.  The Lamb is worthy because of who He is.

a.  Our Lord and Saviour.  John 20:28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

b.  Our High Priest.  Hebrews 8:1  Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

c.  Our Advocate.  1 John 2:1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

d.  Our Mediator.  1 Timothy 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

e.  Our Coming King.  Revelation 19:16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
